The Key of David
This essay is written in the hopes that those reading the Holy
Scriptures, will delve further into what they believe and why
they believe it. For the last 2000 years the Gospel has been diluted
to the point where most who say they believe in Jesus are walking
a very wide road.
The
second chapter of Revelation starts a message to seven congregations
of believers in Messiah Yeshua, starting with the congregation
at Ephesus. Each of the seven congregations are being judged,
and they are being judged by their deeds. They are being judged
by what they are actually physically doing. Put another way they
are being judged by their works. This is very Jewish thought,
whereby faith, and deeds are not separated. In the Christian
faith,
it is permissible to separate deeds and faith and in fact it
is encouraged. This is called Hellenism, and you cannot find
this
doctrine as acceptable to the G-D of Israel anywhere in scripture.
Messiah Yeshua warns
that the congregation of Ephesus is in danger of losing its Menorah
(its light of approval) if it does not repent of its deeds. Each
congregation is lacking and are told to repent, until we come
to the congregation called Philadelphia in Rev 3:7-8 “And
to the angel of the congregation in Philadelphia write: He who
is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and
no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens says this: “I
know your deeds, Behold I have put before you an open door which
no one can shut, because you have a little power, and you have
kept my word, and have not denied My name.”
What is this Key of
David? Because if there is anything as a believer that you would
want, it would be this key. And what does it mean you have little
power, and have kept my Word? And how do deeds fit into this?
If anything Philadelphia is the congregation I want to be part
of. Why? “Because you have kept the word of My perseverance,
I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which
is about to come upon the whole world to test those who dwell
on the earth.” Rev 3:10. In other words those belonging
to this congregation will be taken out (raptured) before the great
tribulation.
Let us start by looking
at the Key of David. David was a great Jewish King. David as the
scripture tell us was also not perfect. He was an adulterer (2nd
Samuel 11:1-6) and a murderer (2nd Samuel 11:7-27). The aftermath
of David’s transgressions followed David for the rest of
his reign as King until his death. Even after all of this, G-D
says of David that he is a man after his own heart. (1st Sam.
13:14). So what was David’s key?
The first part of the
key was that David trusted in the G-D of Israel only for salvation.
(Psalm 3:8,13:5,18:2,18:46,21:1,21:5,24:5,27:1, 27:9,35:3,37:9,40:10,51:12,62:2,
and many more.) David knew that in man there is no salvation (Psalm
146:3).
We believe that Messiah
Yeshua is literally the Hand of G-D or the Arm of G-D because
in Judaism both terms for this particular allegory are synonymous.
It is very easy to find that King David trusted in this allegory
for many things (to show Messiah Yeshua as this allegory please
see Exodus 6:6, Isaiah 53:1, and John 12:38).
Within in this Allegory
of G-D we see loving kindness and refuge (Psalm 17:17), salvation
(44:3,60:5,108:6,138:7,144:7), righteousness (48:10), that David
is helped by (119:173). We see that the Hand of G-D is strong,
mighty and exalted (Psalm 89:13, 118:16), that by the Right Hand
David gains the victory over his adversaries (Psalm 98:1),
And by G-D’s hand David has satisfaction (Psalm 145:16)
and that pleasure comes also from this Allegory of G-D (Psalm
16:11). These and more contain all of the attributes that we find
in Messiah Yeshua, not only as the suffering Servant, but also
when he returns for Israel as the conquering King.
Most Christian believers
will agree, with the first part of the Key of David. Trusting
only in G-D for their salvation. The second part of the Key is
as important as the first part, because without both, you will
have another key, one that fit’s the wrong door. This is
the dividing line between the only acceptable religion and Christianity
as it has been practiced and preached when it was taken over by
the Gentile Church Fathers.
The second part of the
Key, is that David loved the Torah of G-D. What is now called
the Law in most Bibles. David relied upon the Torah for every
aspect of his life. He tried not to rely on his own understanding,
and the fact is that during those times that he did rely on his
own will, he made terrible mistakes. Even if he made mistakes,
he never forsook instruction as a bad thing. He repented and showed
his repentance by his deeds. One needs only to read the longest
chapter in their Bible (Psalm 119) to know David’s heart
concerning the Law. King David loved the Torah.
Messiah Yeshua loves
the Torah as well, and in fact never speaks against it. Why? Because
HE is the Torah made flesh (John 1:14). Most Christians are never
taught this, because their leaders teach lawlessness. They teach
in their churches that Jesus will accept their lawlessness because
all they have to do is trust in G-D for their salvation, and they
have a clear ticket to Heaven. Is this true? Is this Biblical?
Does Messiah Yeshua agree? The Key of David is in two parts. With
only half the key, you cannot enter into the Kingdom.
Do not think that I
came to abolish the Torah or the Prophets, I did not come to abolish,
but to make them understandable to you. For truly I say to you
until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke
shall pass away from the Torah until all is accomplished. Whoever
then annuls one of the least commandments, and teaches others
to do the same will be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven ;
but whoever keeps and teaches them, he will be called great in
the kingdom of Heaven. (Mathew 5:17-20).
This is the Doctrine
of the G-D of Israel. This is not the doctrine of the church.
Yeshua will never abolish who He is, the Torah and the Prophets,
the Word made flesh. The adversary snatched this away form the
early church, and they have been lawless ever since. This steals
the Key of David from their very hands, and the only key they
have is the one that leads to eternal separation from the G-D
of Israel.
You will know them by
their fruits (deeds). Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes,
nor figs from thistles are they? So every good tree bears good
fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce
bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that
does not bear good fruit (false religious systems and men that
follow them) is cut down and thrown into the fire. So you will
know them by their fruits.
Not everyone who says
Me , “Lord, Lord,” will enter into the Kingdom of
Heaven, (Messiah Yeshua is saying that the doctrine preached
by
the church that all you have to do is believe in Jesus is a FALSE
DOCTRINE, it is simply not true), but he who does the will
of My
Father who is in Heaven will enter (the only true will of our
father was expressed to Moshe on Mount Sinai, it is called
the
Torah, and doing the Fathers will require deeds.).
Many will say to me
on that day , “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your Name.
And in your name cast out demons, and in your name perform many
miracles?” (These souls are sincere in their belief but
in fact they have been duped by Satan himself. The miracles Messiah
Yeshua is speaking about are those that happen in church every
Sunday and Wednesday night. Messiah here is not talking about
borderline Christians, He is talking about the zealots of the
Christian faith)
And I will declare
to them, “I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE
LAWLESSNESS.” It would be permissible to translate this
as “YOU WITHOUT THE TORAH”. ( Mathew 7:16-23).
This is how Paul states it ‘For all who have sinned
without the Torah will also perish without the Torah, and
all who have sinned
under the Torah will be judged by the Torah, for it is not the
hearers of the Torah who are just before G-D, but the doers
(doing
the deeds of the Torah) will be justified. (Romans 2:12-13).
This is how James states it; ‘Therefore putting aside
all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility
receive the word
that is implanted in your souls. (I would like to remind the
reader here that when James penned this THERE WAS NO NEW TESTAMENT
as
is the case with all the New Testament writers. James was speaking
only of the Torah and the Prophets. This is the word that
James
is referring to.) But prove yourselves doers of the word, (Doers
of the Torah) and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
(The
hearers are the Christians who say that they believe the entire
Bible, but then distance themselves from the deeds, like keeping
the Sabbath, like eating clean foods, or like keeping the festivals,
even though Messiah Yeshua kept all of these. ) For if anyone
is a hearer of the word (Torah) and not a doer (doing the deeds
that the Torah requires) he is like a man who looks at his
natural
face in a mirror for once he has looked at himself and gone away,
he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But
one
who looks intently at the perfect Law (Torah ) , the law (Torah)
of liberty. And abides by it (actually does the deeds required)
not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this
man will be blessed in all that he does. James 1:21-25
The idea that the Torah
will bring a blessing to the man who walks in the precepts of
G-D is exactly what King David believed, what King Messiah Yeshua
believed, and is the second part to the Key of David. Is this
scripture? Absolutely. Does this align with the New Covenant?
Absolutely. Is it taught to New covenant believers? No it is not
taught. Why? I believe because it is too Jewish, and that the
church is inherently anti-semitic in form and in function. The
Apostle John puts it this way:’ Everyone who practices sin
also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.’ John
is saying that sin by its very definition is doing works outside
the Torah of Law. Lawlessness is by its very definition absence
of the Torah. And Romans 6:23 states without a doubt that the
wages of sin is death. The absence of Torah in the life of a believer
is death, and this agrees totally with what Messiah Yeshua says
in Math 7:20-21. (1st John 3:4)
John in his first epistle
goes even further to illustrate how important it is to have this
love of G-D’s Torah. ‘ By this we know that we have
come to know Him, if we keep His commandments (the Mitzvot, if
we do what the Torah tells us to do.) The one who says .”I
have come to know Him.” and does not keep His commandments,
(what the Torah requires) is LIAR (caps mine) and the truth is
not in him. 1st John 2: 3-4.
Pretty strong words,
coming from an Apostle who lived his life as an orthodox Jew.
The Key of David is a very narrow road that only a very few are
going to find. For those who do find it, they are promised a blessing,
and a taking out before the time of testing comes upon the whole
earth. Yeshua loves and identifies with those who hold this key,
because they are walking in obedience, displaying their love of
G-D and a repentant heart by their deeds. The members of the congregation
of Philadelphia, have both parts of the Key. As it is written
‘ I know your deeds, Behold I have put before you an open
door which no one can shut, because you have a little power (you
are a small group and not a mega church) and have kept My word
(you have kept my Torah) and have not denied My name ( you have
trusted in G-D for your salvation- Messiah Yeshua). Revelation
3:8
May it be the will of
G-D to grant you incite to grasp the Key of David and all of the
blessings that come with obtaining it.
